Web Session 1: Getting Started


Part 1

Define the following
  1.    What is your subject matter
  2.    What are you trying to communicate?
  3.    Who will be / could be your audience or ‘end-user’?
  4.    What will be the most appropriate / effective form of content?
  5.    What is the function & Purpose?
What ‘sector’ / Industry you would be designing for ... 
e.g. pharmaceutical/ sports and fitness/ health and well being
Using mind maps, notes e.c.t. we explored the questions above ...
What am I aiming to design ? 
Why ?
When for ? 
How ?
Once this is defined look at ..
Sites that already exist
  • Sites similar to the content
  • the audience
  • the purpose
Use various methods of research...

Primary (new, first hand)
Secondary (performed on old data, from someone previously)
Quantative (numbers and stats)
Qualititive (emotions, thoughts and feelings)
Segmentation ('market segmentation' demographics e.g. sex, age, focus groups)
Visual Research (imagery,videos e.c.t.)
